Summer Camp at Fairfield Nature Center
Camp at the Fairfield Nature Center is a unique learning experience for children from age 4 through 7th grade, as well as a Counselor-in-Training program for ages 14-18. Our exceptional programs give campers a chance to explore and thrive in the natural environment. We offer small group, outdoor programs where campers will explore, discover and learn about the natural world.
Camp sessions are for:
- Ages 4-5 (have not completed kindergarten)
- Completed kindergarten – 5th grade
- Completed 6th – 7th grade: Travel Adventure Camp
- Ages 14-18: Counselor in Training
Please be aware, registration is based on the grade your child will have completed in June 2026, NOT the grade they are going into.

Fairfield Camp Fact Sheet
WEATHER PRECAUTIONS
• Camp will follow any state-mandated guidelines. Sessions are conducted outdoors, rain or shine.
• Only in the case of inclement weather will we seek shelter indoors.
CAMP CLOTHING & GEAR
• Play clothes and sturdy shoes or sneakers that can get dirty outdoors
• t-shirt and shorts
• close-toed shoes, sneakers
• Back Pack (LABELED with the camper’s name) with a change of clothes
• For Bike Camp: Bicycle; well-fitted to the child and in good condition
• For Bike Camp: Well-fitted bike helmet
• Rain boots or old sneakers for wetland exploration & related sessions
• Water bottle (FULL and LABELED with camper’s name)
• Rain jacket and rain boots (for rainy day explorations – we do go out in the rain)
DO NOT BRING:
• Flip-flops, open-toed shoes, sandals or party shoes
• Dresses, skirts or “party clothes”
• Personal items such as toys, games, or stuffed animals
SUNSCREEN & INSECT REPELLANT
• Please apply these before your child is dropped off.
TICKS
• Every night, please take a few moments to check your child for ticks. An excellent time is at bath time or just before bed – especially check behind the knees, underwear lines, underarms, and on the back of the neck (near hairline).
HEALTH AND INFORMATION FORMS
• All Health and Medical related forms must be submitted BEFORE YOUR CHILD’S FIRST DAY OF CAMP.
• A physical examination or health status certification, including a complete immunization history, completed by a physician, advanced practice nurse, registered nurse or a physician’s assistant is state-mandated.
• All required forms are attached to the online confirmation email or can be found on our website at ctaudubon.org/pomfret-camp or you may use the forms submitted to your child’s school (if completed less than a year ago).
